The European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022 competition deadline is closed

The application deadline for the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022 competition is now closed. We thank all applicants for the effort they put into applying. All submitted applications, under the condition that they are admissible and eligible, will be reviewed during a pre-selection phase (Evaluation step 1) by a panel of independent experts in the tourism field.

The experts will evaluate and score each application in the four award categories (accessibility, sustainability, digitalisation, creativity and cultural heritage). The European Commission will inform the applicant cities of their successful candidatures in September 2021. A maximum of seven cities with the highest overall score will be shortlisted as finalists.

The shortlisted cities will be invited to present their promotion activities in front of a European Jury. The finalist cities will receive further guidance on the live presentations in due time.
