On 3 February 2022, the Mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic was presented with the 2022 European Capital of Smart Tourism trophy. As part of the official launch event, the inauguration of the giant European Capital of Smart Tourism sculpture also took place in the presence of city stakeholders and European Commission representatives.
