History and adventure in a single trip
Surrounded by the Alps and dissected by the river Po, city authorities have implemented far-reaching measures to both protect the local environment and help visitors get the most out of their stay. A beautiful baroque city-centre, with 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites is almost within touching distance of an adventure playground for mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners. To give tourists a helping hand in fitting all of this into their trip, the city, in collaboration with local tech companies, has developed a number of digital tools. The TORINO+PIEMONTE app gives users access to all the main sites and even lets them skip the queues. This of course gives visitors much more time to enjoy the mountains. For those who enjoy an adrenaline rush, the Trail Rings app maps a host of alpine circuits for mountain biking, trail running and hiking. For those who prefer to relax and enjoy good vegetarian food, the Junker App will help you find the best meat-free restaurants in town.
City of art and design
In Torino you can see world-famous self-portraits from Leonardo da Vinci, as well as contemporary street art. In recent years, Torino has invested in art projects throughout the city, created by local, national and international young artists. Many of these pieces can also be enjoyed using augmented reality. This mix of old and contemporary helped Torino achieve the status of a “UNESCO “CREATIVE CITY”.
